How should I support God's church?

"You must set aside a tithe of your crops - one-tenth of all the crops you harvest each year...Doing this will teach you always to fear the Lord your God." - (Deuteronomy 14:21, 23b; NLT)

"Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don't have. Of course, I don't mean your giving should make life easy for others and hard for yourselves."
                                                                  - (2 Corinthians 8:12-13a; NLT)

---------------------------------------------------------------------

The Bible makes the purpose of tithing very clear: to put God first in our lives. We are to give God the first and best of what we earn. What we do first with our time and money shows what we value most. If we give first to God it immediately focuses our attention on Him and reminds us that all we have really belongs to Him. A habit of regular giving keeps God at the top of our priority list and gives us a proper perspective on everything else we have. However, our attitude is more important than the amount we give. We don't have to be embarrassed if we can give only a small gift. God is concerned about how we give from the resources we have.

"You can't out give God!" and we do believe that the more you give, the more God blesses you. There are several ways in which you can support the ministries at East Orrington Congregational Church. We'd most like to see you at the worship services but you can donate by mail:

            East Orrington Congregational Church
            38 Johnson Mill Road
            Orrington, ME 04474

Or, perhaps having your gift electronically transferred from your bank would be more convenient through an EFT (electronic funds transfer). Just call the church office at (207) 825-3404
