Rev. Carl Schreiber has been serving East Orrington Congregational Church (EOCC) since March 12, 2006. After graduating from Bangor High school in 1977, Carl went briefly to college and then into management at a local drug store chain. In 1981, Carl began working with his father, The Rev. Carl Sr, and together they built a successful business serving the greater Bangor area.
After 9 years working together, Carl Sr sold his interest to Carl and who continued to run the business until June of 2004. It was during these years that Carl became involved with the Methodist Church and began taking denominational courses, having multiple leadership roles within the church, and filling the pulpit as needed. In early 2004 Carl met with the ministerial board of the United Methodist Church and began the process of becoming a minister in this tradition. He enrolled at the Bangor Theological Seminary in the fall of 2004 and graduated in 2008 with his Master’s degree.
He began pastoring at Dixmont Methodist Church, then Prospect Harbor and Gouldsboro Methodist Churches before becoming the Sr. Pastor at EOCC in Jan of 2007. Carl was ordained in the Congregational Way with Ecclesiastical Council in November of 2008.
Pastor Carl and his wife Nancy have been married since 1980. They have four grown daughters and three sons-in law; Stephanie, Chelsea and Aaron Pinette, Whitney and Marbin Delgado, and the youngest Kortnee-Ann and John Hasselmann. Pastor Carl and Nancy also have two grandchildren, Anna Reta and Harrison Roland Pinette. They love to be gathered as a family and opening their home to the church family as well. They love the life style that Maine offers them in all aspects. Their passion for life is clearly seen as they witness God’s love and grace in their daily lives to others. They love vacationing in Maine as well as Disney.
A good reflection of who Pastor Carl is can be best described by Pastor Carl’s own words when he was hired; “when you get me you also get my family, especially my wife.” They live a life that is true to the word he shares with all people.
